E. R. Dodds

Eric Robertson Dodds ( born July 26, 1893 in Banbridge, † April 8, 1979 ) was an Irish classical scholar.

Since 1924 he held the chair of Greek at the University of Birmingham, since 1936 he was Regius Professor of Greek at Oxford University.

His main work is the book The Greeks and the irrational.

One of his students was A. W. H. Adkins.
