Eamon Martin

Eamon Martin ( born October 30, 1961 in Derry ) is Koadjutorerzbischof of Armagh.

Life

Eamon Martin studied at the seminary in Derry and St. Patrick's College, Maynooth. He received on 28 June 1987, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He was 1987-1989 curate at St. Eugene 's Cathedral in Derry. From 1990 to 1998 he was a teacher in Derry. After graduate studies at Queen's University Belfast, he completed in 1998/99, a master's degree at the University of Cambridge. From 1999 to 2008 he was dean from 2010 general secretary of the Irish Episcopal Conference. He was also the 2010/11 Vicar General in the Diocese of Derry. After retirement of Séamus Hegarty, 2011, he was appointed administrator of the diocese. In 2011 he became Pope Benedict XVI. pontifical honor Kaplan ( Monsignor ) appointed.

On January 18, 2013 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. to Koadjutorerzbischof of Armagh. The Archbishop of Armagh, Cardinal Seán Baptist Brady, gave him on 21 April of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Charles John Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, and Gerard Clifford, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Armagh.
