Earl Belmore

Earl Belmore is a hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of Ireland, which is run by the family Lowry - Corry.

Earlier family seat was Castle Coole in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh.

Award

The title was in 1797 for Armar Lowry - Corry, a former member of the Irish House of Commons, created.

Subordinate title

Lowry - Corry had been raised in 1781 for Baron Belmore, of Castle Coole in the County of Fermanagh, and 1789 Viscount Belmore. Both subordinate titles are also included in the Peerage of Ireland.

Since the Earl Belmore has no distinguishable subordinate title, the fictitious title Viscount Corry is used by the eldest son of the Earl as a courtesy title. For the existing Viscountswürde the risk of confusion would exist with the actual title.
