Earthworm Jim (series)

Earthworm Jim is a video game hero and the title of the debut project by Shiny Entertainment. Earthworm Jim is unexpectedly superhero when suddenly an indestructible high-tech space suit from space falls on him.

It was invented in 1993 by Doug TenNapel, the character, the original game was released in 1994 initially for Sega Mega Drive and the SNES. Even the subsequent project Shinys was the successor Earthworm Jim 2, which reappeared on Megadrive and SNES - improved graphically and musically speaking version was later released for the Sega Saturn. The second part took off in large parts of the game design of its predecessor and altogether seemed like a collection of games from different genres.

In 1999 appeared with Earthworm Jim 3D, the third part. This was developed by VIS Entertainment and published for PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and Windows PCs.

Atari was planning a remake of the first part for the PSP, which was published in 2007, but was discontinued.

Interplay announced that they are working in collaboration with the creator of Earthworm on a fourth part of the Earthworm Jim series. Unfortunately there was no information regarding platforms and release date. The latest adventure is a collaboration with Douglas TenNapel, which functions as a creative consultant.

Gameloft announced in August at gamescom 2009 in Cologne announced that it has agreed a deal over several years with Interplay, which allows the studio to develop Earthworm Jim games and distribute. In October 2009 we finally released a port for iPhone and iPod touch in Apple's App Store, for which one has optimized the soundtrack and the game chapters introduced with the ride on the rocket control via motion sensor.

The first game is already published at the end of the year as Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare titles, the Xbox 360 version of sponsor will appear before the other two. There will be also a remake of the 1994 publication for the Super Nintendo and Sega Mega Drive worm classic.

On 23 April 2010 the game for Nintendo's DSiWare download service has been released. In this version, a mini-game has been integrated in the player 's face is analyzed with the help of the camera. The player must make faces and can thus receive bonuses.

Interplay Earthworm Jim HD - Since 9 June 2010, the game on the Marketplace of Xbox Live is available. The remake was given the "HD " because it was graphically very well adapted to the present conditions. For the equivalent of about 10 euros the game can be loaded with 435MB on the Xbox hard drive. The Earthwom Jim Parts 1, 2 and 3D are also available through the DRM-free download provider Good Old Games.

Earthworm Jim is a playable character in the video game Clayfighter 63 1/3 released for the Nintendo 64
