Echium sabulicola is a species of the genus of snake heads ( Echium ) in the family of Boraginaceae ( Boraginaceae ).

Description

Echium sabulicola is a bristly hairy, prostrate, or upright Coming biennial or perennial plant that forms a few to several flower-bearing stems. It reaches heights of growth from 15 to 50 cm. The basal leaves are ovate to obovate, the stem leaves are inversely lanceolate to spatulate, at the base they are pointed and scarcely stalked. The leaves are more or less densely pubescent with white, present or protruding bristles.

The inflorescences are more or less branched and loosely rispenartig. The cup is the heyday of 6 to 10 mm long and is extended to fruit maturity up to 16 mm. It is densely covered with bristles whitish. The crown is 12 to 22 mm long, funnel-shaped and dark colored blue or pink to bluish- purple. Most one or two stamens stand out from the crown, the stamens are hairy sometimes sparse.

Occurrences and locations

The species occurs in the western Mediterranean region and grows along roadsides, fields and sandy soils near the sea.
