Echo Lake Park

The Echo Lake [ ekəʊ leɪk ] (" echo lake " ) is a lake in the U.S. state of Colorado - Range of the Rocky Mountains located in the front, around 70 kilometers west of Denver.

It is located about halfway of the Mount Evans Scenic Byways of Idaho Springs to Mount Evans ( 4348 m).

The Echo Lake is a shallow, nutrient-poor lake in about 3230 m altitude. It originated when some 10,000 years ago the glaciers retreated at the Chicago Creek Valley and prevented the surrounding moraines as a natural dam water drainage in the valleys. Engelmann spruce and subalpine fir trees and some pines Nevada on thin places form the ecosystem around the echo lake.

The Echo Lake is the center of Echo Lake Park, which was incorporated in 1920 in the mountain park system of Denver.
