The University École Normale Supérieure de Cachan ( ENS Cachan short ) is a French Grande École, which belongs to the network of normal supérieures Écoles.

History

The ENS Cachan was as École normale de l' Enseignement technique established in 1912, renamed in 1932 École supérieure normal de l' Enseignement technique ( enset ) and bears its present name since 1985: École Normale Supérieure de Cachan.

Since 1956 the university to its present campus in Cachan is located in the south of Paris. The humanities sections go in 1976 to the ENS Fontenay and Saint -Cloud and in the eighties faculties of mathematics, chemistry, economics and social sciences are founded in Cachan. Thus the profile of the university is becoming increasingly clear: applied science, technology and economics.

In 1994, the branch of the ENS Cachan in Ker Lann is based at Rennes in Brittany.

Study

Admission to the program is carried out through a nationwide admissions process after the visit of two years of preparatory classes. The students then adopted by the notation élève normalien and included with salary for the period of 10 years in government service.

The university is the largest of the four French Écoles normal supérieures and offers degree programs as well as the preparation for the Agrégation in the fields of science, technology and economy.

Research

As normal at the remaining Écoles supérieures there at the ENS Cachan numerous research groups, 12 laboratories belonging to the CNRS and cover the full range of degree programs.
