Ed Ames

Ed Ames (actually Edmund Dantes Urick, born July 9, 1927 in Malden, Massachusetts) is an American pop singer and actor.

Life

Ed was the youngest of four brothers who founded in the late 1940s as a vocal group the Ames Brothers, and had some hits middle of the next decade; 1955 was the most successful year with its own television show.

After dissolution of the group Ames in 1959 went to New York to take acting lessons. After several theater roles he played Mingo the Indian in the television series Daniel Boone.

In 1964 he began again with recordings that appeared up to the early 1970s on some LPs; including his biggest hit from 1967, the top 10 single "My cup runneth over" from the Broadway musical I Do, I Do, which reached number 8 in the U.S. singles charts. With " Who Will Answer? " Succeeded him in 1968, another Top 20 hit. In 1964, he also devoted in the context of the presidential campaign, the song Hello Lyndon the then U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.
