Ed McKeever

Edward Daniel McKeever ( born August 27, 1983 in Bath) is a British canoeist. His special discipline are the 200 meters in one kayak.

Career

His first international success celebrated McKeever in 2010. At the Canoe Sprint European Championships in 2010 in the Spanish Tresona he won the gold medal in the K1 200m. At the World Championships in Poznan, he also won gold and silver in this stretch of the season. At the European Championships 2011 in Belgrade, he was third on his special line, the 2011 World Championships ended the defending champion in second place behind Poland's Piotr Siemionowski.

In 2012, McKeever was first again third in the European Championships in Zagreb. The 2012 Summer Olympics he finished the one-man kayak about 200 yards and became the first Olympic champion, his biggest success.

Because of his athletic achievements, he was appointed in 2013 to the Member of the Order of the British Empire.
