Eddy Treijtel

Eddy Treijtel (1974)

Eduard " Eddy" Willem Treijtel (* May 23, 1946 in Rotterdam ) is a former Dutch football player.

Career

Treijtel began his career in his hometown as a youth player at the Rotterdam club Schiebroek and Xerxes. When Xerxes, he completed his first year at senior level until he and Wim van Hanegem moved to Feyenoord Rotterdam in 1968.

At Feyenoord, he celebrated his greatest successes by winning the World Cup in 1970 against Estudiantes de la Plata, as well as the UEFA Cup in 1974 against Tottenham Hotspur.

In 1979 he moved to AZ Alkmaar. There he reached the finals again in 1981 the UEFA Cup. Alkmaar defeated Ipswich Town in the overall standings after two matches by a 0-3 defeat in the first leg and a 4-2 win in the return game in Amsterdam.

1985 ended Eddy Treijtel his active career.

International played Treijtel 1969-1976 five times for the Dutch national team. He stood in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup 1974 in Germany, where he did not, however, was used.

Trivia

Beyond football became known Eddy Treijtel when he on 15 November 1970 with the severed ball hit a seagull with a game between Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam, which then fell to the ground dead.
