Edel von Rothe

Precious Rothe (* April 27, 1925 in Berlin, † 19 November 2008 Dusseldorf ) was a German ballet dancer.

Career

From Rothe was on 29 July 1941, the Ministry of Arts in Berlin their matriculation examination for the genre stage dance. She was trained by Tatjana Gsovsky in school in the pheasant road. By 1950, she performed with the ensemble of the Deutsche Staatsoper on the premises of the Admiral's Palace in numerous choreographies by Tatjana Gsovsky. Her colleagues and partners have included well-known soloists like Michael Piel, Gert clean Holm, Peter van Dyk, Eleanor Vesco, Natasha Trofimova and Gisela Deege. In parallel, there have been many appearances at the Friedrichstadt Palace and in other venues. Mostly, these were to dance and revue numbers that were embedded in the variety shows - a practice followed by many of the dancers at the time.

In 1950, the Hamburg Ballet theater company was founded in order to go to the ballet Abraxas on tour in Europe. The choreographer was Helge Peters Pawlinin. From Rothe embodied the Archisposa. In the season 1950/51 she was a principal dancer of the ballet ensemble at the Deutsches Theater Göttingen, ballet master: Hans von Kusserow, where she sang Carmen danced in a highly acclaimed ballet version of the opera. Then it was in the Dusseldorf Opera House under Yvonne Georgi prima ballerina. From Rothe stayed in Dusseldorf, where Kurt Jooss, Otto Kruger ( choreographer ), Nika Nilanowa - Sanftleben and Werner Ulbrich followed Georgi. At Werner Ulbrich she had, among other great success in his choreography of Henze's Undine.

With the change of general manager Grisha Barefoot at the beginning of the season in 1964 and the inauguration of a ballet director Erich Walter, she pulled back first on character roles as the mother in Cinderella, Gypsy women in Petrushka or the Queen in Pelleas and Melisande. During this time she was beside Ruzena Mazalova - Walters co-director - his closest collaborator. Your experience has benefited many young choreographers who supported her sensitively. These included names such as Hans van Manen, Uwe Scholz, Gerd Bienert and Istvan Herczog. After Erich Walter's death on 23 November 1983, she stayed on as an assistant at the side of Paolo Bortoluzzi, who was the ballet director at the Rhine Opera until 1991.

However, the request of Heinz Spoerli, in his first season in 1991/92 still participate, they politely declined. With some appearances as a mother in Spoerli Nutcracker she said goodbye then finally from the stage. In 1977 she was made an honorary member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.

Private life

In the 1950s, she was married for some time with the director Guenther Roth. Until her death she lived with her sister in Dusseldorf top Kassel.
