Edipresse
The Edipresse SA is a Swiss media group based in Lausanne, which is mainly active in the press. Since 1990, the group is also active in international business.
History
Predecessor of Edipresse is the Société founded in 1907, de la Feuille d' Avis de Lausanne et des Imprimeries Réunies SA, which (since 1762) and La Tribune de Lausanne ( 1893) produced the two newspapers La Feuille d' Avis de Lausanne, and in owned a print shop was. 1925 formed the publisher as Lousonna S. A. 1988, the publishing house was restructured; Edipresse arose. The Company focused from now on to the publication of newspapers and magazines as well as graphic work. The following years were marked by expansion abroad, eg Spain, China and Greece.
On 3 March 2009 Edipresse and Tamedia announced to merge their operations in the Swiss market. For this Tamedia is acquiring 49.9 per cent of the share capital of Presse Publications SR SA ( a subsidiary of Edipresse in which the media activities are bundled). 2011 Tamedia will expand its interest to 51.1 percent, and finally increased to 100 percent in early 2013. For the first two investment steps Tamedia pay 226 million francs. The merger is subject to approval by the Federal Competition Commission.
After a far-reaching reorganization generated Edipresse 2009 sales from continuing operations of 178.6 million francs. Other 363.4 million francs accounted for no more continuing operations, resulting in a pro forma turnover of 542 million Swiss francs (previous year pro forma 738.2 million francs). The number of employees decreased from 3'387 end of 2007 to more 1,457 for continued operations.
Publications
Besides produced exclusively in Switzerland newspapers - including Le Matin, Tribune de Genève, 24 Heures and Le Temps ( participation) - is Edipresse publisher of magazines at home and abroad. So many women, news and TV magazines are published. In Internet Edipresse is owned by swissfriends.ch ( dating ) and Jobups.ch and holds a 45 percent stake homegate.ch ( real estate).
