Edirnespor

Edirnespor is a Turkish football club from Edirne. The club currently plays in the Edirne Süper Lig Amatör, but for many years was in earlier times represented in the second division of Turkey.

History

The club first played in an amateur league, but was absorbed directly into the second- highest division of Turkey after the union with Meriçspor and Suspor. As the first president of the association Rahmi Akıncı was chosen. He obliged the former Turkish national team Naci Erdem as coach of the team. The first game of the association was a friendly match against Altay Izmir, which they lost 0:2. The first professional game of the club was a game in which former Turkish Cup Tournament Spor Toto Kupası against Bursaspor. Edirnespor lost the game 0-1.

The first league game they played against Medical Park Antalyaspor. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. The first season ended the team to 5th place

Before the start of the new season, the club agreed friendlies against two Turkish giants Beşiktaş Istanbul and Galatasaray. The match against Beşiktaş Istanbul took place on 11 February 1968, Edirnespor won 1-0. On April 23, 1968 the team played against Galatasaray Istanbul and triumphed 2-0.

In the season 1968/69 the club had to deal with many problems, the coach Naci Erdem announced in mid-season and as new coach committed to Ali Etüd. In the final weeks of the season Naci Erdem returned to his office, could the club, but no longer hold in the second division.

After descending into the third Turkish league was Atilla Bilgin new president of the association. The first season in the third division was finished on a mid-table. Once you could not ascend to the second division for many years, the club undertook important players of the top clubs in Istanbul and was 1977/78 the first of the third division, which they ascended to the second division after a long time. After the rise of club Arda Denizeri, the most important player of the team of Besiktas Istanbul sold.

The club played until the 1989/90 season in the second division, until they then descended again to the third tier.

At the beginning of the season 1993/94 we undertook major player again as Hakan Özer Keleş and Selim and rose as the winner of the third division, again in the second league. After the 1994/95 season the club was about to ascend to the highest Turkish league, but was in the play-offs last Group and has since played through to 1998/ 99 in the second division.

The club was relegated after the season 1998/99 due to technical and financial problems in the third division from where he spent four years and then increased after the 2002/ 03 season in the Amateur League from.

Since 2003, the association is represented in the Edirne Süper Lig Amatör.
