Eduard Clemens Fechner

Eduard Clemens Fechner ( born August 21, 1799 in United Särchen at Bad Muskau, † February 7, 1861 in Paris) was a German painter and graphic artist.

Life

Fechner studied from 1814 in Dresden by Josef Grassi and Mathias Moritz Retzsch. In 1820 he went to Munich, where he continued his training under Joseph Karl Stieler. Temporarily, he worked for a Duke of Leuchtenberg. In 1826 he went to Paris and became sedentary.

Works

Fechner created excellent portraits of young women and children. His most famous work is a lithograph of his half-sister, Clara Wieck, who was born in Paris in 1832.

Family

Fechner was a brother of the philosopher and Musikästhetikers Fechner and born of Clara Wieck's stepmother Clementine Fechner Wieck, her father Friedrich Wieck 's second wife.
