Eduard Lassen

Eduard Lassen ( born April 13, 1830 in Copenhagen, † January 15, 1904 in Weimar) was a composer and conductor.

Life

The Eduard Lassen's family moved to Brussels, where he received a musical education at the conservatory. In 1851 he won the Prix de Rome. He then studied in Germany and Italy. After the 1857 made ​​his opera Landgraf Ludwig Brautfahrt in Weimar there took place in 1858 his appointment as court music director following the resignation of Liszt he was Kapellmeister in 1861 and wrote in the year music for the premiere of Friedrich Hebbel's drama Die Nibelungen. In 1895 he went into retirement.
