Eduardo Romero

Eduardo Romero ( born July 17, 1954 in Córdoba, Argentina ) is one of the most successful Argentine professional golfer.

Career

He started relatively late ( 1982) as a professional golfer and first recorded the Latin American tour. In 1985 he first came to the European Tour and established himself there since 1989. Romero is a reliable golfer and had been eight tournament wins and seven placings in the top 20 on the money list, in his best year ( 2002) he was fifth.

2004 - at the age of 50 - took Romero, right at the first appearance as a senior, second place at the British Senior Open, a senior major. Two years later he was able to repeat this result and lost only in the jump-off against the American Loren Roberts. Also on the North American Champions Tour Romero has worked and won there in August 2006 his first tournament, this time equal to a senior major. 2008 was followed by another success and in August took Romero at the U.S. Senior Open, his second senior major title.

Romero won more than 80 tournaments in Latin America, he represented his country 14 times (a record ) in the World Cup and eight times in the Dunhill Cup, and also took part in the 2002 and 2003 UBS Cup.

His nickname is El Gato, the cat, because he seemingly apathetic participating in the tournament scene and then suddenly slams shut and the victory " captured ". Romero has done in Argentina very much for the game of golf and his role model has already produced some very good professional golfer. Especially noteworthy is his protégé Angel Cabrera, who is quite entered already in the footsteps of his mentor, and which may have been two major title with his wins at the 2007 U.S. Open and the 2009 Masters.
