Loren Roberts

Loren Roberts ( * June 24, 1955 in San Luis Obispo, California) is an American professional golfer of the Champions Tour. Due to its strength in Putten he is called by his colleague awesome " Boss of the Moss".

Career

Roberts became a professional golfer in 1975, but could not until almost forty -year-old win his first title on the PGA TOUR. In 1994, he missed a major victory at the U.S. Open only in the jump-off ( after 20 holes) against the eventual winner Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie. Overall, he won eight tournament wins and a career prize money of over $ 15 million.

Loren Roberts once played in the Ryder Cup ( 1995), twice victorious in the Presidents Cup (1994 and 2000) and represented the U.S. in the UBS Cup 2001. For the 2006 Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman, he was nominated as the vice-captain.

In 2005 he went to the Champions Tour and won in his first season, a senior major. 2006 was followed by four more wins, including another senior major, the Senior British Open in July, which Roberts ruled in play-off against the Argentinian Eduardo Romero for themselves. In 2007 he won the Senior Players Championship his third Major in the seniors. In July 2009, the fourth major victory followed - Roberts won the Senior British Open for the second time.

With his colleagues Scott Simpson and Larry Mize 1999 he wrote the book Golf Focus: The Name of the Game.
