Edvin Sugarev

Edwin Stefanov Sugarew (also written Sugarev Edvin Stefanov, Bulgarian Едвин Стефанов Сугарев; * December 27, 1953 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian writer, literary critic, dissident against the communist regime, bloggers and politicians.

Life

Edwin Sugarew was born on December 27, 1953 in the Bulgarian capital Sofia. In 1978 he completed his studies in philology at the University Kliment Ohridski in Sofia. Between 1981 and 1984, was Edwin Sugarew a research assistant in the Department of History of the Modern Bulgarian literature at the Literary Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (abbreviated BAN). In 1985 he defended his doctorate in philology at the University of Plovdiv with the work " The Bulgarian Literature after the First World War and the German Expressionism (World pictures and stylistic parallels ) " (from the Bulg Българската литература след Първата световна война и немският експресионизъм ( мирогледни и стилистични паралели ) ). Between 1986 and 1990 Sugarew worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Literature of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Sugarew 1989 was a member of the communist regime to the opposition and at this time still illegal movement Ekoglastnost. In 1990 he was Radaktionsmitglied the literary magazine Literaturna misal ( Bulg Литературна мисъл ). 1990 was Sugarew deputy in the 7th Grand National Assembly, which has paved the way for the democratization of Bulgaria after the fall of the Iron Curtain and the still valid law of the land adopted.

In the period 1991-1996 Sugarew chief editor of the newspaper literatures was vestnik ( Bulg Литературен вестник to dt: Literary Journal ) and Member of Parliament. Edwin Sugarew was between 1997 and 1998 Bulgarian ambassador to Mongolia and between 1998 and 2003 Bulgarian Ambassador to India. Since 2002 Sugarew is again a researcher at the Institute of Literature of the BAN, and since 2003, again working as chief editor of the literary journal.

2013 went Sugarew and four of his children in protest against the government in the hunger strike. Sugarew was due to his admitted to the intensive care unit. Then he broke off the strike.
