Edward Acquah

Edward Acquah ( born July 23, 1935 † 6 October 2011) was a Ghanaian football player. The 188 -centimeter-tall attacker was due to his hard shot as "Mr. Sputnik "means.

Acquah began his career at Sekondi Eleven Wise. In 1959 he left the club to help build a new team, Sekondi in Ghana Independence. In the coming year, however Acquah returned to Sekondi Eleven Wise and won with the team, which was henceforth called " Western Show Boys", the Ghana Premier League. In 1961 he was engaged by Kwame Nkrumah Accra Real Republicans club, where he stood up to the dissolution of the Association in February 1966 under contract; therefore, he returned to Sekondi, where he was involved in the management of his youth club. During his club career Acquah should have scored in league and friendly matches over 400 goals.

With the national Acquah took part in a trip to Europe in 1961; 1963 could be winning the African Cup of Nations celebrate in their own country. With two goals in the group stage match against Ethiopia and in the final against the Sudan, he played a decisive role in the success ( the final goals will be partly strike partner Wilberforce Mfum attributed ). At the Olympic football tournament 1964 Acquah four times used also scored two goals.
