Edward Baldwin, 4th Earl Baldwin of Bewdley

Edward Alfred Alexander Baldwin, 4th Earl Baldwin of Bewdley (born 3 January 1938) is a British peer, educators and politicians.

Life and career

Baldwin was born on 3 January 1938 as a son of Arthur Baldwin, 3rd Earl Baldwin of Bewdley ( 1904-1976 ) and Joan Elspeth Tomes († 1980).

He attended Eton College and left in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts. He then studied at Trinity College at the University of Oxford Modern Languages ​​and Law. In 1966 he graduated with a Master of Arts.

In between, he had served two years in the armed forces in the military intelligence service from 1956 until 1958., Where he reached the rank of Second Lieutenant.

From 1970 to 1987 Baldwin was in school administration, most recently in Oxfordshire ( 1980-1987 ).

From 1989 to 1991 he was a member of the Research Council for Complementary Medicine. He was 1990-1998 President ( Chair ) of the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board.

In 2004, Baldwin was co-editor of a book on the political career of his grandfather.

He currently lives in Upper Wolvercote. (As of 1999)

Membership in the House of Lords

On the death of his father in 1976 he inherited the title of Earl Baldwin of Bewdley and then associated seat in the House of Lords. There he sits as a cross Bencher. The speeches of the are listed in the Hansard from 199.

In 1992 he was joint chairman of the Parliamentary Group for Alternative and Complimentary Medicine. From 1999 to 2000 Baldwin was a member of the Select Committee of Inquiry into Complimentary and Alternative Medicine.

He was elected by the holders of hereditary titles on one of the 92 seats in 1999, which are subject to this. He finished in 16th place of the Cross Bencher of 28 for this to be assigned seats.

Family

He is a grandson of former Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin. His paternal grandmother was Lucy Baldwin.

Baldwin was from 1970 until her death in 2001 with Sarah James MacMurray, daughter of Evan James Maitland, married. The marriage produced three sons have emerged.
