Edwin Skinner

Edwin Skinner ( Edwin Joseph Skinner, * October 15, 1940 in St. James, Trinidad ) is a former sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago

Skinner showed age of 12 to be far above average talent as a runner. Already in 1952 he won the Coronation Sports Meeting at the Queen 's Park Oval in the 100 and 220 yards. In 1959 he was still in the shadow of Wendell Mottley, from which he broke away in subsequent years. In 1962, he held the national records over 200 and 400 meters. In the same year he went to the University of Maryland, where he was a member of the University team, with which he set a world indoor record in the 4 x 440 yards relay.

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he reached the eighth place in the 400 -meter run and the team bronze medal in the 4 x 400 - meter relay, along with his teammates Kent Bernard, Edwin Roberts and Wendell Mottley, behind the teams from the United States ( gold) and the UK (bronze).

Another bronze medal he won in the 400m at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1966.
