Effelder -Rauenstein was a town in Thuringia in the district of Sonneberg, which was formed in 1994 and merged on 1 January 2012 with the community Mengersgereuth- hammering for congregation Frankenblick.

Geography

Effelder and Seltendorf lie in the valley of Effelder in about 380 meters above sea level on the southern edge of the Thuringian Slate Mountains. Effelder and Seltendorf road are villages that extend approximately on 3 km on the highway 89.

Coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms is composed of parts of the coat of arms of former municipalities Effelder and Rauenstein. It is quartered and shows in the upper half of the elements crosier and apple, in the lower left half of the Schaumberger colors and in the lower right half of the Wettin Coat of Arms.

Economy and infrastructure

The districts will benefit from the proximity to the Coburg area, to find work in the numerous inhabitants. There are also several small commercial areas.

The former municipality is situated on the main road 89 that leads from Sonneberg to ice rink. In addition, the hinterland railway that runs from Sonneberg to Meiningen, by the municipality winds. Stations are available in Effelder, Seltendorf and Rauenstein ( head station).
