Frankenblick

Frankenblick is the name of a unit municipality in the district Sonneberg in Thuringia, which was created January 1, 2012 through the merger of the municipalities Effelder -Rauenstein and Mengersgereuth- hammers.

Geography

Frankenblick lies in the southwestern part of the district Sonneberg. The municipality is bordered to the east by the Franconian Forest and the north by the Thuringian Slate Mountains. The main part of Frankenblick is on the Schalkauer plate or also called Schalkauer plateau. The boundary of the township in the south is also the boundary of the district Sonneberg Thuringia and Bavaria. In the West, the city Schalkau borders the municipality, in the north of the city Neuhaus am Rennweg and the city Steinach, in the east the county seat Sonneberg and Neustadt bei Coburg in the south ( Coburg, Bavaria).

History

The merger of the municipalities Effelder -Rauenstein and Mengersgereuth- hammering was initially rejected by the Home Affairs Committee of the Thuringian Landtag. After fresh discussions on the Thuringian state parliament December 16, 2011 approved the formation of the unified community.

The administrative center is Effelder, an outpost there in Mengersgereuth- hammers.
