Judenbach is a municipality in Thuringia in the district of Sonneberg.

Geography

The place is a 3 -km-long road village on a plateau in the south of the Franconian Forest Steinachtal between the west and the east Tettautal. East of the village is 699 meters above sea level the high stone hill, north rises 697 meters high mountain goat and the 714 -meter high shingle blow.

History

The church was first mentioned in documents in 1317, but is probably much older.

Judenbach formerly lived mainly of toy manufacturing and agriculture and forestry. In the Middle Ages there were around Jews Bach several charcoal burners and a glass factory. The village benefited from the construction of long-distance connections along the mountain valleys and the railroad of the Thuringian Forest greatly from its location on the military and trade route from Nuremberg to Leipzig. Judenbach was one of the resting and bias points for the crossing of the Thuringian Forest. Economy and infrastructure

The toy manufacturing, which was marked up in the 1950s by many small private holdings, then from a PGH and later in the VEB Kombinat toys Sonni Sonnenberg rose, no longer has any meaning.
