Efraín Herrera

Efrain Herrera ( born September 28, 1959 in Mexico City), also known by the nickname El Cuchillo (Spanish for The Knife ), is a former Mexican football player at the position of a defender.

Life

Association

His debut in the Mexican Primera División graduated Herrera on the opening day of the 1978/79 season for Unión de Curtidores in a home match against Atlante. In the discharged on September 6, 1978 playing his team could turn in the last ten minutes or a 0:2 behind in a 2-2 draw. His first ( and only for Curtidores ) score in the highest Mexican League he scored on 26 April 1979 by the 4:5 defeat in the away match against Atlético Español. As the team descended from the weaving town in 1981 in the second division, Herrera moved to Club Atlas de Guadalajara, where he was the next four years up to and including the 1984/85 season under contract.

1985 Herrera went back to his hometown, where he played until 1988, first for the Club America and in the next eight years for the club Necaxa. With two clubs he won the league title twice each: the América fashionistas in the Prode 85 and in the season 1987/88 and with the Necaxistas for the seasons 1994/95 and 1995 /96 apply.

1996/97 he was at Deportivo Toluca under contract and then he moved to second division side CF Pachuca, with whom he won the first round tournament of the season 1997 /98 ( Invierno 1997) and ascended to the first division at the end of the season, where he still eleven inserts for the Newcomer denied before his career ended in late 1998 at the age of 39 years.

Since then he has coached various clubs in the Tercera División fourth-rate.

National

Between 1980 and 1991, Herrera was a total of twelve times for the Mexican national team for use. His debut, he played on 15 April 1980 in a friendly match against Guatemala, "El Tri " won with 4:2. Until his second mission he had to wait almost seven years, because this took place against El Salvador ( 3-1 ) until 17 January 1987. His last international match played Herrera in the match for third place in the CONCACAF Gold Cup 1991 on July 7, 1991 against Costa Rica ( 2-0).
