Egon Jux

Egon Jux ( born July 17, 1927 in Königsberg, † 19 August 2008) was a German architect. He was known primarily for his bridges. In his planning office in Darmstadt, he worked with his son Ben Jux.

Life

Jux was a disciple of Le Corbusier. His bridges were important identity-building infrastructure projects. The popularly called Red Bridge Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge spans the valley of the Alzette and connects the city center of Luxembourg with the European Quarter on the Kirchberg plateau. The conspicuous Köhlbrandbrücke in Hamburg harbor on the 325 meter wide arm of the Southern Elbe is a masterpiece of elegance and became a landmark of Hamburg.
