Eichelberg (Odenwald)

The Acorn Mountain is a mountain of the Crystalline Odenwald about 6 km east of the mountain road at the height of Leutershausen on the mountain road in northern Baden- Württemberg. The mountain located in the eastern tip of the Weinheimer urban area has a secondary summit with the name Wilde people stone.

Geographical location

The forested, 524.9 m above sea level. NN high acorn mountain lies between Weinheim Oberflockenbach in the north- northwest, Heiligkreuzsteinach lamp grove in the east, Schriesheim - Altenbach in the south and Schriesheim - Ursenbach in West southwest, from which all it is less than two kilometers away.

From the west, the mountain rises about 150 m above the saddle to Ursenbacher height, steeply to a north spur, on the small platform large rocks are showing the typical rounded forms weathered granite; then a southeast -withdrawing ridge to the summit. Wild people stone

The legendary side peak is about 300 meters southeast of the main peak on a flat knoll ( 522 m above sea level. NN ) height, at the south side of a small hill is exposed in the rock. An information board tells about the history and legend.

Tourism

At the top is the Mannheimer hut of the local chapter of the Mannheim Odenwaldklub, a tower with a viewing platform. It manages the Turmstube from early April to late November on Sundays and public holidays. Outside of the times is the management platform is not accessible.

Over the hill and directly at the lodge passes via a Ostbogen in the Odenwald from Weinheim to Heidelberg in the south running red -dashed trail of Odenwaldklub. A south migratory trail in the western Odenwald Weinheim -Birkenau in the north to Heidelberg Ziegelhausen in the south runs, marked with a white cross of St. Andrew, along its northeast slope.
