Eight Elders
The Eight Immortals of the Communist Party of China were eight members of the Chinese Communist Party ( CCP) and close companion of Mao Zedong. The group received its colloquial name based on the eight immortals of Chinese mythology.
It involves:
- Deng Xiaoping (1904-1997), from 1979 until his death in 1997, de facto leader of the People's Republic of China
- Li Xiannian (1909-1992), 1983-1988 President of the People 's Republic of China
- Chen Yun (1905-1995), 1978-1987 Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC
- Peng Zhen (1902-1997), 1983-1988 Chairman of the National People's Congress
- Yang Shangkun (1907-1998), 1988-1993 President of the People 's Republic of China
- Bo Yibo (1908-2007), from 1979 to 1982 member of the Politburo of the CCP
- Wang Zhen (1908-1993), 1988-1993 Vice- President of the People 's Republic of China
- Song Renqiong (1909-2005),
The descendants of these politicians are called princelings.
