Eikeren

Eikeren or egg nucleus is a long and deep lake in the Norwegian municipalities Øvre Eiker in Buskerud and Vestfold in court.

At the eastern end of the lake is the place Eidsfoss. In this section, the water of the lakes Bergsvann, Vikevann, Haugestadvann and Hillestadvann flows to the Eikeren. The Eikeren also receives water from the tributaries Hakavikelva and Steinbruelva.

The western part of Eikeren is connected with the lake Fiskumvannet over a narrow waterway, the Sundet. About the Sundet leaves a mean discharge rate of 7 m³ / s of the lake. From Fiskumvannet the water over the Vestfosselva continues to flow in the direction Vestfossen. In Hokksund, the river divides into two arms, both of which culminate in the Drammen River.

Since 2005, the Eikeren is from Vestfold Intercommunal Vannverk ( VIV ) used as an additional water reservoir for the supply of Fylke Vestfold.

On the western shore of the Eikeren is the storage power plant Hakavik.
