Eileen Paisley, Baroness Paisley of St George's

Eileen Emily Paisley, Baroness Paisley of St George's (née Cassells ) ( born November 2, 1931 in Belfast ) is a Northern Irish politician of the Democratic Unionist Party and Life Peeress.

Life and career

She was born on November 2, 1931 as Eileen Cassells. She is the daughter of Thomas James Cassells.

In 1967, she was the Protestant Unionist Party ( DUP predecessor ) was elected Councillor in Belfast ( to 1974 ), three years before her husband Ian Paisley was elected to the House and the Parliament of Northern Ireland. It was in the Northern Ireland Assembly ( until 1974 ) in 1973 and elected in 1975 in the Northern Ireland Constitutional Convention ( to 1976 ), both for the constituency of East Belfast.

She is an honorary Vice -President ( Honorary Vice - President) of the DUP.

During a visit of Bertie Ahern in the former constituency of her husband Ian, there was an incident in which a protester Eileen Paisley confronted.

In November 2009 she took part in the region Tubbercurry on a journey of her husband. In September 2012, both took part in a trip to Dublin together with the Northern Irish politician Ian Adamson part.

Membership in the House of Lords

It was announced on 11 April 2006, which is Paisley appointed as one of the first three members of the DUP for Life Peer.

On 14 June 2006 she was appointed in the County of Antrim for Life peer as Baroness Paisley of St George's, of St George's.

Your official introduction to the House of Lords took place on 3 July 2006 with the support of Betty Boothroyd and James Molyneaux, Baron Molyneaux of Killead. Your inauguration, she held on 14 December 2006.

In June 2012, she was one of the members who opposed a planned reform of the Upper House opposed.

Family

Paisley is the wife of Ian Paisley, they married on 13 October 1956. Paisley Eileen and her husband have five children.

Her son, Ian Paisley Jr MP for the DUP, whose twin brother Kyle is a Free Presbyterian priest. Her daughter Rhonda attended Bob Jones University and belonged to the Belfast City Council, but is no longer in politics has long been active. They also have two other daughters, Sharon and Cherith.
