Eino Uusitalo

Eino Uusitalo Oskari ( born December 1, 1924 in Soini ) is a Finnish politician and former Minister of the Interior.

Political career

Uusitalo began his political career in 1955 with the election of the Members of the Finnish Parliament. There he represented until 1983, the Centre Party. He stood as a candidate in 1956, 1962, 1968 and 1978 unsuccessfully for the nomination as presidential candidate of his party. But he was defeated in each case Urho Kekkonen, who was president from 1956 to 1981.

From 28 May 1971 to 29 October 1971 he was Minister of the Interior in the cabinet of Ahti Karjalainen. The Office of the Minister of the Interior he held from 29 September 1976 until February 19, 1982 in the Cabinets of Martti Miettunen, Kalevi Sorsa and Mauno Koivisto from.
