Eisenberg (Ore Mountains)

BWf1

The Eisenberg is a 1028 meter high summit in the upper Ore Mountains north of Oberwiesenthal in Saxony, Germany.

Location

The Eisenberg is located two kilometers north of the city Oberwiesenthal. On the plateau are the Stümpelfelsen and cross the bridge rocks. The next higher Fichtelbergbahn is located in a south-westerly direction at a distance of 1,800 meters. Both mountains are connected by a 979 meter-high shoulder with one another, over which the road passes four and the Sportbaude Waldeck is parking included. From here you can get for a 800-meter climb towards the Stümpelhütte on the Eisenberg or with the sky ladder lift on the Fichtelbergbahn. On the aforementioned parking lot there was the former Red Vorwerk. North of the shoulder begins the valley of the White Sehma, south springs from a creek, which empties into the Pöhlbach after two kilometers.

Mountain or summit

Due to the small distance to Fichtelbergbahn, low altitude difference ( 50 m) to the aforementioned shoulder and low dominance (900 m), it is debatable whether the Eisenberg as an independent mountain or just next to the little Fichtelbergbahn ( 1206 m ), the saddle height and dominance 20 meters and 600 meters amount to, and the Taufichtig (1001 m), saddle height 9 m, must be regarded as another side the Fichtelberg peak.

View

From the cross bridge and rocks from the lookout at the Stümpelhütte offers a more panoramic view of the upper Ore Mountains, including the Tuscan Bank, the wedge mountain, for Fichtelbergbahn or Gifthutte mountain.

Way to the summit

No marked paths lead to the summit. It can be reached from the southeast, of Neudorf from across the Flößzechenweg and Oberwiesenthal from across the Red Vorwerk. Not far from the summit extend several local ski trails.
