The Cathedral of St. Martin in Eisenstadt ( Austria ) is the cathedral of the Diocese of Burgenland Eisenstadt.

History

The earliest record of a chapel dedicated to St. Martin took place in 1264. Was then that today's Eisenstadt received his first name "minor Martin " Martin Small village ( Hung, Kismarton ). From this chapel is still a Romanesque foundation in the area of ​​today's presbytery receive. The construction of the organ was made in 1778 by the organ builder Johann Gottfried Malleck from Vienna due to a foundation of Theresa Frigl widow. The new building was necessary because the previous organ had been badly damaged during renovations. Larger modifications to the organ were made in 1944 by the organ builder Karl Schuke (Berlin).
