Ekstra Weekend

Ekstra Weekend ( German: Ekstra weekend) is a radio program of the Dutch public broadcaster NTR. It is broadcast from 19.00 bis 22.00 clock on the station 3FM since September 1, 2006 every Friday evening. The moderators are very popular in the Netherlands Gerard Ekdom and Michiel Veenstra, the pun " Extra " in the name of the show is a portmanteau of the surnames of the two DJs. Missing one of the regular DJs, Domien Verschuuren jumps under the pseudonym " some one other " one (someone other ). Also, the producer of the telecast, Tjitse Leemhuis is regularly on the show with the microphone ( under the pseudonym " Tjibbe Tjibsma ").

The mission

Ekstra Weekend makes to a certain degree the possibilities of electronic communication advantage. De VoiceLift

Gerard and Michiel play an original sound of a famous person whose voice is distorted from. If the listener think, to know the right answer, they can call in the studio. Gerard can hear a fragment of a laughing Ron Brandsteders. Michiel had received on 20 February 2009 the fright of his life when Rick Brandsteder stood behind the door. On 17 December 2010 Ron Brandsteder was actually the first time live on the show.

Ekstra Weekend brievenbus ( The Extra -Weekend Mailbox )

Michiel and Gerard read before mail from listeners. These runs in the background of the beginning of the song " IGY " by Donald Fagen as an endless loop. Often letters arrive, claiming to be from listeners from Germany. However, the texts often contain errors that show that the sender is not German. This usually leads to confusion for the guests, because they think they have to answer all questions.

Het woord secret ( The secret word )

A caller can win prizes, by means of a pre-agreed word. The caller calls a friend who does not know that he is on the radio. This friend is to guess the word through various clues. There usually are words that are not used in daily life. If the friend has guessed the word, sounds like the polka version of " She's too fat for me" by James Last, and the persons present dance singing by the studio. Since 2011 there is also a carnival version of the song.

Operation DJ Sandstorm

In every show, a short mix of about five minutes in length will be played. This mix is produced each week by DJ Sandstorm and contains about five different songs.

De Kazoo Classic

Every show is a song in which a kazoo was used in the recording, played. At the beginning of each mission there is always the song " And So They Say " by David reapers.

Trivia

• When a song by the Pet Shop Boys played is the "Pet Shop Boys Alarm" sounds. When playing the song Gerard put a hat with a red rotating beacon, and a traffic Michiel ( pylon ) on the head and parody the typical music videos of the Pet Shop Boys.
• When the word "earlier" said the disc jockeys put a paper cup on their microphones. This gives the typical tinny sound of old microphones. The ensuing conversation is usually centered on issues of the past.
• Often, the two DJs behave irrationally. As justification for their behavior then they say: " Gewoon omdat het kan " ( Just because it's possible! )
