El Perro del Mar

El Perro del Mar was founded in 2003 in Gothenburg project by Sarah Assbring, whose sole member Assbring itself.

Career

The inspiration for naming was loud Assbring during a stay in Spain when she met a stray dog ​​on the beach. A short time later, they released several EPs on the Swedish independent label hubris, in 2005 under the title look! It's El Perro del Mar! were combined into a debut album. A common single and tour with Jens Lekman increased their awareness. With the EP God Knows ( You Gotta Give to Get ) she managed a first success in Sweden. In 2006 the self-titled album El Perro del Mar, a slightly modified re- release of their first work, sold by the British label Memphis Industries in the United States and Great Britain. 2008 appeared on the label Licking Fingers the Swedish band The Concretes Assbrings second album From the Valley to the Stars.

Reception

El Perro del Mar received consistently positive reviews, compared her voice with Jane Birkin and attested influences of Burt Bacharach. Other critics Stina Nordenstam and placed beside Anna Ternheim, highlighting the quality of the classically arranged pop songs out.
