Elbridge G. Spaulding

Elbridge Gerry Spaulding ( born February 24, 1809 in Summerhill, Cayuga County, New York, † May 5, 1897 in Buffalo, New York) was an American politician who represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Spaulding studied law, was admitted to the legal profession in 1836 and practiced law in Batavia. 1834 Spaulding moved to Buffalo. In 1847 he held the office of mayor of the city and in 1848 a member of the New York State Assembly. In the same year he was elected as a Whig in the 31st Congress, and represented in the U.S. House of Representatives from March 4, 1849 until March 3, 1851 the state of New York. 1854 and 1855 had held the office of Minister of Finance of New York ( Treasurer of the State of New York) Spaulding. March 4, 1859 to March 3, 1863, he was again a deputy in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Republican. After retiring from Congress, he worked in Buffalo in the banking industry.
