Presidential elections

The President of the Slovak Republic is elected by direct popular vote since 1999, the term of office is 5 years. If in the first round no candidate receives an absolute majority, the two top finishers go into a second round of voting.

1999

The first round of voting took place on 15 May 1999. The turnout was 73.89 %.

The second round of voting took place on 29 May 1999. The turnout was 75.45 %.

2004

The first round of voting took place on 3 April 2004. The turnout was 47.94.

The second round of voting took place on 17 April 2004. The turnout was 43.50 %.

2009

The first round of voting took place on 21 March 2009. The turnout was 43.63 %.

The second round of voting took place on April 4, 2009. The turnout was 51.67 %.

2014

The first round of voting took place on 15 March 2014. The turnout was 43.4 %. There were 14 candidates.

The second round of voting took place on 29 March 2014. The turnout was 50.48 %.

Parliamentary elections

The National Council of the Slovak Republic ( until October 1, 1992 the Slovak National Council), the carrier of the legislature with 150 members, elected by proportional representation method to 4 years. The electoral threshold for parties is 5%. In the following, the results of the elections in the years 1990 and 1992 are presented, even though Slovakia was still part of Czechoslovakia.

1990

The parliamentary elections were held on June 8 and 9. It should be noted that the locking clause 1990 was 3%. The turnout was 95.39 %.

1992

The parliamentary elections were held on 5 and 6 June 1992. The turnout was 84.20 %.

1994

The early parliamentary elections were held on 30 September and 1 October 1994. The turnout was 75.65 %.

1998

The parliamentary elections were held on 25 and 26 September 1998. The turnout was 84.24 %.

2002

The parliamentary elections were held on 20 and 21 September 2002. The turnout was 70.07 %.

2006

Early parliamentary elections were held on 17 June 2006. The turnout was 54.67 %.

2010

The parliamentary elections were held on June 12, 2010. The turnout was 58.83 %

2012

Early parliamentary elections were held on 10 March 2012. The turnout was 59.11 %.
