Electric Wizard

Electric Wizard is a doom metal band from Dorset, England.

Band History

Electric Wizard was founded in 1993. Jus Oborn left his band Eternal, to record a few demo songs with Tim Bagshaw and Mark Greening. Oborn played the guitar and sang, played bass and Bagshaw Greening the drums. The band took the name Electric Wizard. The self-titled debut album was released in 1995. Their 1997 album Come My Fanatics, the band established itself in the doom metal scene. The dark and bass -heavy sounds gave way to the subsequent EPs rather stoner rock influences.

On the album Let Us Prey, the band experimented first with piano and violin. In 2003, Mark Greening and Tim Bagshaw left the band and formed their new band Ramesses. The only remaining member Jus Oborn new contributors sought (including drummer Justin Greaves, former Iron Monkey ) and published in 2004 the album We Live.

In 2007, the band released a new album titled Witchcult Today. It is again attributable to the Doom Metal and linked up musically to older albums. The album was recorded exclusively with equipment from the pre- 70s era, so the sound is reminiscent of the Black Sabbath's debut album Black Sabbath.

Since early 2013, the drums are officially re- occupied by the founding members Mark Greening.
