Elena Cattaneo

Elena Cattaneo ( born October 22, 1962 in Paladina ) is an Italian scientist. She was appointed in 2013 as the third woman senator for life in Italy.

Life

After completing his PhD in Pharmaceutics, she spent several years in the United States to Boston, where she specialized at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Back in Italy, she took her academic career at the University of Milan on again.

On August 30, 2013 were appointed for life senator Elena Cattaneo from President Giorgio Napolitano. She is the youngest senator for life.

Profession

Cattaneo is Director of the Stem Cell Biology and Pharmacology of Neurodegenerative Disease in Milan, which participates with 15 other laboratories in the European project NeuroStemCell on stem cell research, which she coordinated.

Her research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, especially with Huntington's disease.
