Eleni Karaindrou

Eleni Karaindrou (Greek Ελένη Καραΐνδρου; born November 25, 1939 in Tichio Doridas (now part of the municipality Efpali, Phocis, central Greece ) ) is a Greek composer.

Eleni Karaindrou was born in the mountain village Tichio and grew up in Athens. She studied at the Athens Conservatory piano and music theory as well as at the local university history and archeology. From 1969 to 1974 she continued her education in Paris at the Sorbonne ( folk music ) and the Schola Cantorum (composition). Back in Greece, she founded the Laboratory for Traditional Instruments at the ORA Cultural Centre. Since 1975, she composes theater and film music.

From 1982 she worked together with the Greek director Theo Angelopoulos died in 2012. Your film scores do not contribute considerably to the artistic effect of the films of this director at. At the International Film Festival in Venice in 1989 she was a jury member.
