Elganowo

Elganowo [ ɛlganɔvɔ ] ( German Gilgenau ) is a village of 400 inhabitants in the municipality Pasym in Poland. It is located five kilometers northeast of Pasym and belongs to the powiat Szczycieński in the Warmia - Mazury.

History

In 1394, the then Grand Master Konrad von Jungingen handed the Jonyken of wove 1000 acres of land. On this land, the manor and a village were. The place was called in 1412 still German Liebenau and received its later name from the 1472 to the following owners of wove Brosian of Gylgenaw. This name derives from Old Prussian " ilga " ( long) and " gilin " ( deep) from. 1472 received Gylgenaw awarded the higher jurisdiction. In case of war the owner was required to provide an armed horseman.

In 1870 the manor came in the district of Ortel Castle in the possession of the son of Karl Gottfried Hagen family. The neighboring property Friederike grove and Davidshof were incorporated by inheritance. 1910, the rural community Gilgenau 47, Good Gilgenau 256 inhabitants. In 1939, the total population was 317 in the confusion after the Second World War the manor Gilgenau was dissolved, the village Gilgenau as well as some buildings have been preserved.
