Eliahu Inbal

Eliahu Inbal (Hebrew אליהו ענבל; born February 16, 1936 in Jerusalem) is an Israeli conductor.

Life

Eliahu Inbal started at the Academy of Music in Jerusalem with studies for violin and composition (with Paul Ben -Haim ). Following a recommendation by Leonard Bernstein of extremely talented young musicians received a scholarship for further training in the conducting class of the Conservatoire de Paris. He also attended courses with Sergiu Celibidache and Franco Ferrara ( the Radio Nederland Wereldomroep in Hilversum ).

In 1962 he was named the first winner of the International Conducting Competition " Guido Cantelli " in Novara. This he opened the gateway to a great career. Since then, he performs with virtually all major orchestras in the world and at international festivals.

From 1974 - 1990 Inbal conducted the Radio Symphony Orchestra Frankfurt, Hessischer Rundfunk. The recordings with the symphonic complete recordings of Mahler and Bruckner, as well as orchestral works by Berlioz have won awards. The orchestral works of Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, and the symphonies of Brahms and Schumann were also included under Inbals line. He was appointed its conductor laureate in 1996.

From 1984 to 1987, Eliahu Inbal was also " Direttore Musicale Principale " (Principal Conductor ) Orchestra of the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

From 1996 to 2001 Inbal held the chief conductor's post at the Orchestra Nazionale della RAI in Turin. Here he led in the first three years the ring of Wagner concert on. For this he received, inter alia, two Italian critics awards. However, in his native Israel, he fell into the crossfire of criticism, because there the music of Wagner is still seen in close connection with National Socialism.

From 2001 to 2006 he was principal conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. From September 2007 to 2011, he was again chief conductor of the orchestra of the Gran Teatro La Fenice, from fall 2009 to June 2012, chief conductor of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and since April 2008 Principal Conductor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
