Eliot Weinberger

Eliot Weinberger ( born February 6, 1949 in New York City ) is an American novelist, essayist, translator and editor.

Weinberger is considered one of the finest essayists of our time. In German-speaking he was the essay What I Heard about Iraq in the cultural magazine Lettre International, in which he regularly texts and poems published since 1995, to a wider audience.

He also translated among others the works of Octavio Paz and Vicente Huidobro into English. His own texts will be translated into German by Peter Torberg.

He was awarded the PEN / Kolovakos Award 1992. In 2000, he was the first North American writers the Order of the Aztec Eagle.
