Elizabeth Armstrong Reed

Elizabeth Armstrong Reed ( born May 16, 1842 in Winthrop, Maine, † 1915) was an American orientalist.

1860 she married Hiram V. Reed, and was mother of Myrtle Reed. In 1893 she was chairman of the Woman's Congress of Philology in Chicago and in 1896 she wrote for the Course of Universal Literature. For four terms, she was chairman of the Illinois Woman's Press Association. She received honorary degrees from Northwestern and Illinois Wesleyan universities and Bethany College.
