Ellen Lenneck

Martha Julie Antoinette Helene Weichardt, nee Henkel, ( born February 5, 1851 in Cassel, † May 16 1880 in Görbersdorf ) was a German writer. She wrote under the pseudonym Ellen Lenneck.

Life

Helene Henkel was born the daughter of Ministerialsekretärs and former tutor of the three sons of the Elector of Hesse, Wilhelm Henkel, and the writer Friederike Henkel in Kassel to the world. She was initially attracted to the music - their grandmother Antonia Arnold was a singer and actress at the theater in Kassel -, devoted himself since the age of 14 but the letter. At the age of 17, she had to leave Kassel: The family moved to Bern, where Wilhelm Henkel had obtained a position in the German Legation.

Only after his father's death, she went with her mother in 1872 returned to Germany. At first they lived in Berlin with her uncle Charles Henry Arnold, who worked as a court painter. Later, she moved with her mother to Eisenach, where she met the architect Karl Weichardt who had designed, built at this time Eisenach town theater. Both were married on November 1, 1879 in Eisenach. Only half a year later, Helene Weichardt died at the age of 29 years in Görbersdorf at Oederan and was probably buried in Leipzig on the new St. John's Cemetery. Her grave is not obtained. Her funeral in Leipzig can be understood from the fact that Karl Weichardt erected in 1880 as an architect for several years buildings in Leipzig.

Helene Weichardt published as Ellen Lenneck in the 1870s, several novels and short stories, which appeared separately and as a serial novel in magazines, including the German Roman newspaper and the German novel library. Some of her works, including the novel evening sun, was published posthumously.
