Elliott Murphy

Elliott Murphy ( born March 16, 1949 in New York) is an American singer and songwriter.

Life

Murphy grew up in New York in a wealthy family. He started playing in bands as a teenager. In the late 1960s he went with his brother Matthew to Europe. Here they lived as a street musician, with Elliott wrote the songs. In 1972, he played a small role in Fellini's Roma.

Shortly thereafter, he returned to New York and formed a new band called Aqua Show. This named after an amusement park that belonged to his father. In 1973, he released the self-titled debut album by the band. Commercial Elliott was with his albums with little success, even though it was celebrated by the rock press as the " new Dylan ". He played in the trendy New York clubs like Max's Kansas City and so he won in galleries is a Kultruf. He has played with artists from the environment of Lou Reed and Jonathan Richman's Modern Lovers, as bassist Ernie Brooks. With the New York Dolls, Patti Smith Group and others, he formed the New York art rock scene, where he joined as a classical singer / songwriter with an accompanying group in appearance.

On his debut album for Blue Rose Records Selling The Gold ( 1995) Chucho Merchan Murphy ( studio musician of Eurythmics ) and Luis Jardim (studio musicians of the Rolling Stones ) was developed by Andy Newmark ( Roxy Music), accompanied. " Special Guests " on the album were Bruce Springsteen, in his European concerts he also appeared as a surprise guest, and the Violent Femmes.
