Elsinore Mountains

The Elsinore Mountains are a mountain range in Riverside County, California, United States. They are part of the larger Santa Ana Mountains. The highest point of the mountain is the unofficially named San Mateo Peak 1095 m, followed by the Elsinore Peak with 1078 m. These two highest peaks are related by a mountain ridge.

The mountain is located in the Cleveland National Forest, which extends towards the south to San Diego County. However, north of the Elsinore Mountains lies with Lakeland Village and the larger town of Lake Elsinore populated area. The Elsinore Mountains führem from unincorporated area of ​​El Cariso towards southeast to the Elsinore Peak. Here the mountain bends around to the east and falls off.

On the west side of the Elsinore Mountains flow the streams Decker Canyon Creek, Morrell Canyon Creek and San Mateo Creek. The first two flow together later to San Juan Creek, which flows into the Pacific Ocean. In the south of the mountains arise Los Alamos Canyon Creek and Wild Horse Canyon Creek, which in turn flow into the San Mateo Creek. Apart from the Murrieta Creek flow all watercourses in the nearby Lake Elsinore on the west side.
