Elvis Perkins

Elvis Perkins ( born February 9, 1976 in New York) is an American singer-songwriter of folk rock. He is the son of actor Anthony Perkins and photographer Berry Berenson and grew up in Los Angeles, California and New York City. Maternal Perkins is a great-grandson of the fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli and a nephew of the actress Marisa Berenson.

In his melancholy songs Perkins processed his personal suffering he had to go through over the years: his father died in 1992 from AIDS, and his mother was in the plane that was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001. His debut album Ash Wednesday, which was released in the U.S. in February 2007 on XL Recordings, features the songs written before and after the death of his mother, in chronological order. The first single from All the Night Without Love was published. Support Perkins received it from his older brother Osgood and Oz Perkins on drums and his friend Ethan Gold, who produced the album, arranged and mixed.

With the musician trio Brigham Brough as a bassist, drummer Nicholas Kinsey and Wyndham Boylan - Garnett as a keyboardist and guitarist Perkins went back in 2006 when Elvis Perkins in Dearland to a long and successful U.S. tour. He toured with, inter alia, World Party, Cold War Kids, Dr. Dog, Okkervil River, My Morning Jacket and Pernice Brothers. Also on the music festival Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, the band played and aroused wide media coverage. In addition, Elvis Perkins came into Dearland as the opening act of the indie rock band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Willy Mason on his European tour.

The song Moon Woman II of Perkins ' debut album was recorded in the soundtrack to the film Fast Food Nation. And While You Were Sleeping, which found a large spread on the internet in advance of the album release, was a result of the fourth season of the television series The OC be used. This song Elvis Perkins denied in Dearland her first television appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman on June 13, 2007.

Ash Wednesday came out in Europe on July 9, 2007. In September 2007, Elvis Perkins participated in Dearland at the instigation of producer Chris Shaw (especially as a producer of Bob Dylan and Public Enemy known) All The Night Without Love in a new version, and released the single in November 2007.
