Emanuel Zisman

Emanuel Zisman (Hebrew עמנואל זיסמן; born February 11, 1935 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria; † 12 November 2009) was an Israeli politician.

Zisman was born in 1935 in Bulgaria. In 1949 his family emigrated to Israel and settled in Jerusalem.

In 1988, Zisman was first elected to the Knesset. In 1992, his re-election. On 7 March 1996 Zisman and Avigdor Kahalani left the Avodah and founded the Third Way party. The taking place in the same year elections, the new party was able to win four seats in the Knesset and participated in the government of Benjamin Netanyahu.

On 29 March 1999 Zisman resigned from the party and from then sat as an independent delegate in the Knesset. In the May election he lost his seat. In addition to his deputies activity Zisman was also a member of the City Council of Jerusalem, as well as long-time chairman of the " Israeli- Bulgarian Society ".

In October 2000, he was Israeli ambassador in Bulgaria. A post he held until November 2002.

Zisman was honored with the highest Bulgarian Order of Merit medal " Stara Planina ". He was married and had three children.
