Emese Hunyady

Emese Hunyady ( born March 4, 1966 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian-Austrian speed skater who for Austria Olympic champion over 1,500 m in 1994 and took part in six Olympic Games 1984-2002.

Career

As a child she tried only figure skating, then switches to fast mode.

At the 1984 Winter Olympics they still went for Hungary, since 1988, after her marriage with the Austrian coach Thomas Németh in 1987 for Austria and was several times Austrian Champion.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992 it reached bronze. In 1993 she won the European Championships the overall standings, 2000 in 1,500 m world champion, she was in 1994 and 1999.

At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, she won the gold over 1500m and danced with the Austrian flag in his hand waltz. It is the only native Hungarian who won gold at how any Winter Games. To this end, they won a 3000m silver medal.

At the Olympic Winter Games 1998, she was flag bearer for the collection of the Austrian team. 2002 was their last participation.

She is married to the Finnish coach Timo Järvinen and thus daughter- Juhani Järvinen and lives with him in Switzerland.
